Giclee Printing: Technology Today.
Giclee Printing is a form of printing that is used to produce high quality images. The process is quite different from other printing methods used. You can produce prints on different substrates via this method. The Giclee Printing method makes use of ink that is squirted onto a substrate. This printing process is unlike the desktop ink printers in offices. It is a printing machine that is much larger in size. They are quite wide to look at, and have been referred to as ?knitting machines` because of their size and similarity in look. However, they squirt ink on different surfaces to produce fine images. From high quality digital scans, you can develop flawless images with even better color than an original. The color produced in Giclee Printing is dependent on the ink-jet printers used. Ink-jet printers used are normally 8-color ones or 12-color ones. Some of the top quality producers of these in-jet printers include: MacDermid Colorspan, Epson, & Hewlett-Packard. These quality printers need to be differentiated from the 4-color ink-jet ones that were developed in the 1970s. Sometimes, people classify this printer with the 8-ink-jet and the 12-jet ones. However, individuals who use these services would know the difference. Artists also may be considered among these users.
